Roadside Runways

A cool arid breeze fills the halls, its source unknown, seemingly never coming from the same direction. Lamps are mounted on pillars lining the length of the halls, decorated with small black stripes of wool, shining brightly towards the ceiling and floor. Thin blue curtains cover the armored glass windows, placed intermittently between each pillar.

A coarse black carpet cuts down the center, covering the smooth, boiling hot linoleum floor, the heat only being felt when up close to it. Soft, round stools stand on either side of the linoleum floor, like knights guarding the entrance to a kingdom.

The ceiling, radiantly illuminated by the lights, is cold to the touch, as if in direct contrast with the hot linoleum. At irregular intervals, small round devices reminiscent of fire detectors can be found, protruding from the ceiling, occasionally playing a calming melody.

The Intersections

A green tint shines through the hallways, giving off a strange feeling of comfort. Large, open rooms with polished marble tiles interconnect at random. Within these rooms, one has a constant feeling of being watched and a faint sense of unease fills one while traversing them.

An old, musky, shag rug lays the foundation for multiple chairs and stools, seemingly made of cheap parchment-like material. Plants resting in smooth, black vases are scattered about the area, not fake, but never withering.

An odd metal door occasionally breaks up the repetition of the intersecting rooms, opening with some force and leading to an eerie area that seems to serve as the power source of the complex. Small inset illuminate the area with a faint blue shimmer, contrasting with the green hue.
