The Basement (Original)

A musty smell fills the air as the lights above flicker on. You look around to reveal the sight of an unfamiliar basement, consisting of ivory stone walls, along with lights and metal pipelines running along with the ceiling above. Coming into contact with the pipes sears the exposed skin, making them dangerous obstacles, it's unknown what fills these pipes.
Wires can be seen on the ceiling wrapping around the pipes. At a further glance, every metal objects other than the pipes seem to be overtaken by rust. One finds the layout is made up of long hallways for miles, with the occasional side room every so often, devoid of any light with tables and desks hidden in the darkness.
Further out, any sign of exit is completely nonexistent. Behind the walls, machinery can be heard, seemingly run by something invisible to the naked eye. The further out one goes, the more the area distorts itself. Hallways found to appear narrower, with rooms containing large moving gears and oversized pipes.
| The End? |
The distortion of the area would be disturbing to anyone in the uneasy environment. Other rooms have missing walls revealing nothing more than a mound of dirt taking its place. Through the halls, a door can be found, on closer inspection, it appears to be rusted shut…
You fight open the door only for it to be slammed shut behind you, attempting to open it again proves pointless. Looking around one will notice the halls have become narrower, and the lights shine brighter. Instead of only pipes lining the ceiling, they now infest the walls with the heat emanating from them feeling extremely unpleasant.
Dust covers everything, lining it in a thick coat. On the ground, dust piles up in such volume that it makes up the visible floor. You notice the halls are no longer as long, rather shorter halls ending at a door that leads to another hall. The level of the ground doesn't stay the same as the elevation drops or rises a foot or two without any warning.
Behind the pipes, you discern that the walls are rough and cracked, wide halls being seen when peered through, appearing unnaturally stretched. Maintenance equipment is sporadically strewn about on the floors or laid on the pipes.
Ranging from tarps on the floor, tool boxes stacked on pipes, or varying boxes containing light bulbs and pieces of pipe. The dust kicked up from walking hinders your breathing. Leading you to struggle in the hot, dusty rooms.
