Trepidation
In a pitch-black dark sky, behind distant mountain tops and blurry clouds, a reddish glow emanates from the horizon, slightly illuminating the surroundings. The unnaturally flat ground consists of fine black sand, stretching as far as the eye can see. A gentle, cold breeze exudes a sense of peace and calmness, as if the environment is welcoming you.
As you walk around, you begin to feel that something is awry, but you can’t exactly place what. You begin to question your surroundings and the reason you're here. A feeling of dread and fear slowly arises as an unnerving thought of an imminent threat fills your mind. You feel a chill down your spine as you try to avoid something unknown.
The red glow starts to slowly fade away. You watch with despair as the only light, the only hope in this place, disappears behind the mountainous horizon. As you try to avoid the inevitable, the once gentle breeze intensifies, moving the dark sand around you aggressively. Moving becomes increasingly difficult due to the strong wind, making you fall to the ground while desperately trying to escape.
It's the end; there's nothing else you can do other than lay on the ground, waiting for your end to come – it's only a matter of time. You watch the last fragment of red light lurking through the horizon as you close your eyes, hoping it will be quick and painless while feeling the sand steadily piling up on your body.
The wind suddenly stops. While still laying on the ground, you wonder if you've passed on. Upon opening your eyes, you see complete darkness in all directions. The ground is no longer made of sand; rather, it is completely solid and firm. You feel dizzy and disoriented but still, you manage to stand up on your feet.
On the opposite side of the sky from which the red glow once was, you begin to see a very intense and blinding white light, rapidly enlarging. The brightness becomes unbearable to the point where you can no longer keep your eyes open, causing you to fall, once again, to the hard ground. However, you now feel that something has changed.
